So, how’s your 2020 going? Here at Love In Lace Bridal we have seen it all so far this year. Plans have changed sometimes 2 or 3 times, expectations and emotions have to be constantly managed but rest assured, you will get married one day!
With current government restrictions, micro weddings are becoming more and more popular, and we can see why!
Who wouldn’t want the opportunity of potentially having 2 celebrations; a more intimate day with your nearest and dearest and then a big party celebration with all the gang in the future! Just think of the possibilities for outfits! You can play it whatever way your style suits. You may already have your dress and need some help thinking outside the box to style it, or perhaps you will decide to buy a second dress- lets face it, you’ve got more time to save up for another should you chose to, so it's a win-win situation!
Or maybe, like some of our Love in Lace brides, you have decided that love can’t wait and you are getting married now whatever that looks like. The beauty of a micro wedding is the intimacy. A big wedding may be what you've been dreaming of, but sometimes the amount of time you spend with your beloved is minimal.
Whether you are planning an elopement or a micro wedding here in the UK, you can go to town on so many things that you may not have been able to afford with a big wedding.
Lavish styling and tablescaping, or delicious Michelin star food, whatever your heart desires, this is all much more possible with a smaller affair.
In terms of your wedding flowers, the trend for these is currently about incorporating lots of dried elements such as pampas and palms. You could speak to your florist about keeping creations like your bouquet, or even flower arches etc in tact for your big party the following year.
Aside from food and styling, work with your suppliers to help create the day you really want to achieve. Talk to your photographer about the kinds of photographs you'd like them to take. Perhaps you're venturing into the city rather than the barn wedding you'd originally planned - newlyweds strolling through London arm in arm are some of our favourite that we've seen. They may also offer a scaled down package as you still want those precious memories but your day may be shorter.
But of course as Bridal specialists, we think one of the most important things is nailing the dress! Just because you may have to have a smaller wedding, with less people included, it doesn't mean you should wear anything less than your dress of dreams. However if you feel like you want to have a less elaborate dress, a shorter train, or want to keep it really simple, Love in Lace has some perfect looks to offer you.
The 'New York' by Luna Willow gown for example, is a simple pared down satin-crepe slinky dress that can be accessorised in so many different ways. Maybe you want to throw a leather jacket over it with some cool boots? This is a perfect way to transform a dress that you'd originally booked for a Summer wedding, but now plan to wear in the colder months. Or if you are still wanting that super-glam feel, our pearl covered wings or our effortlessly chic pearl cape work perfectly with this dress. From beach, to town hall or barn, NY could be your perfect Micro Wedding dress.
Some of our dresses also have detachable sleeves - this could be a great way of transforming your dress, not only from day to night, but also from micro wedding to big summer party! Check out some of our gowns including Armeria by AlenaLeena Bridal or Tokyo by Luna Willow as some examples of these.
The other look we LOVE for micro weddings is incorporating a bit of sparkle into your day! Have you always dreamed of wearing head to toe sequins? Now is your chance to go all out and cover yourself in them! An untraditional, fashion-forward look, ideal for the modern, city sleek bride. If this is the look for you, we adore our Phoenix dress by Vagabond Bridal.
Whatever happens to your plans during 2020, 0r 2021, we are all in this together. Your dream day will come, you will get married, and love ALWAYS wins.
